Hey everyone! My name is Theresa B. Cyr and have been a teacher for over 16 years. I currently live in Aroostook County, Maine with my husband and recently tried my hand at writing professionally for the first time this past year. I have two fantastic stepsons, a daughter-in-law, and two adorable grandsons. 


How did I get started writing the book?

I began writing my first book, Unintended Travelers, back in February of 2022. I originally had a totally different storyline in mind, but after writing quite a bit of my first draft, I decided I wanted to go in a different direction. So, I changed things up and decided to have my two original characters time travel, and that's when their adventures began.

Once I got started on my storyline and began developing my characters, everything began to flow.  My characters took on a life of their own and the story began telling itself. There were times when I would get stuck and not know where to go next in the story, so I'd take a few days to a week off from writing, and when I sat back down again, I'd reread the last chapter I had written and then the ideas would continue to just flow.


Why Self-Publish

I chose to self-publish my book through Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), partly because I wanted to have as much control as possible over my creation. 


What is the goal for my page?

I hope to not only get people interested in what I've written but also to share my experiences from when I'm actually writing my pieces and when I'm publishing and promoting my work. Maybe my experiences will inspire others to get started with their writing and that there are options other than the traditional route when publishing their work.

2025 in Review

This past year was a busy one.  Between my actual job as a teacher with all that it entails, writing my mental health book, I Am Not Okay , publishing my grandson's book, The Kindness of a Friend , and finishing my latest book,  Garnet, in the process, I attended quite a few events. The events were a mixture of different formats. Each of them were unique and interesting. It allowed me to visit different places in Maine that I've never been before. And because I attended them alone, it also forced me to step outside my comfort zone driving to unfamiliar places. Thank goodness for navigation apps. As we wrap up 2025, there's so much to process. After this last event this coming weekend, I will have driven over 1,200 miles this year just to attend events. I've traveled up north to Bangor several times, east to Waterville, and south to Lewiston and Searsport. Winter Break is Here!

Don't get me wrong, I love teaching. It's been a passion of mine since I can always remember, but like all passions, they can become draining and overwhelming. As stressful as working with students can be, my students feed my soul. I can wake up grumpy in the morning, but feel my sprits lift once I see them walking down the hallway. Of course there are days that this doesn't happen, but that's such a small amount of time that it barely even counts. Usually by the time lunch rolls around, one of my students has made me smile. I started my teaching career in Aroostook County, Maine, the St. John Valley to be specific, and we always had a 2 week break about a month after school started for the potato harvest.  This doesn't exist in Western Maine, so that means the stretch from the first day of school until Thanksgiving feels so long from what I was accustomed to. New Year Thoughts on Writing

New Year Thoughts on Writing I haven't seriously written anything since my last book, Garnet , was published in October 2025. I have toyed with ideas and taken many notes, but I haven't sat down yet to seriously begin writing.  Once Garnet was published back in October of 2025, my attention was on school. I gained another prep and became a co-advisor for another group, so I had more to focus on as the school year was beginning. I also haven't focused on anything in particular because I can't decide what to work on next. Unintended Travelers When I first finished writing the Unintended Travelers Series,  I assumed I was finished with it. The series seemed wrapped up nicely after the first book, which started the series with Brooke and Bently getting sent back in time to 1922, then Henry's story after he accidentally went through the portal, and then Pete's story after Henry was gone.
