Deciding to write a sequel.

Whether or not to write a sequel to a book was something I didn't take lightly. I knew it was going to be a commitment if I decided to do it, and I worried whether I'd follow through with it or not, but apparently, I did.

To begin with, I like reading books about alternative universes or being able to go back in time. I've always been intrigued by the concepts of these stories and the many possibilities that can result from them.

When I started Unintended Travelers, Brooke and Bently weren't going back in time but went through some portal that brought them to an alternative universe instead. I got pretty far into the book, about 2 chapters deep when I decided that I didn't like where it was going and switched gears.

I didn't like where the story was going. It wasn't flowing as well as I had hoped, and I wasn't enjoying writing it at all. So, when I switched to them going back in time instead, it felt like it took on a life of its own. It just flowed so easily.

As I was writing the book, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen to Henry and Pete after the story ended. What would Henry's experiences be at the end of the book, and what about Pete? So that's when I decided to write those two other books.

Book 2, Unintended Travelers: Henry's Decision, was written around the same time that I was writing the first book. I felt that it was easier to keep the consistency of what would happen in both stories by doing it this way. However, as I wrote Pete's story, it was different. If felt different.

It seemed so much easier to tell Pete's story, so much so that I ended up writing twenty-thousand words past my goal! There was so much that I could have added to the story, but I felt I had to find a balance between telling enough and telling too much.

As I wrote Pete's story, I couldn't help but feel that my writing has improved.  I think I do a better job showing the reader what's going on and helping the reader feel and understand what the main character is going through.

Pete's book hasn't been published yet, but it's in the editing process and will be published soon. I have the ebook, paperback, and hardcover formats ready to go. I just need to submit the manuscript.

Thank you for reading my blog and my books. If you've read one of my books and haven't given a review yet, please do. I would greatly appreciate it.
